Appalachian Plateau
The Appalachian Plateau goes from New York to Alabama and forms the west border of the Appalachian Mountains. The Appalachian Plateau is made of sedimentary rock, much like the Ridge and Valley region of Georgia. A large portion of the Appalachian Plateau is called a 'coalfield', due to the coal that was, and still is, mined from the region. The Appalachian Plateau is also the home to many national parks and things of the like, due to the natural beauty of it. The Appalachian Plateau is also often home to fishing lodges as well, because of the lakes and rivers that run through it.
Ridge and Valley
This region of Georgia is named after the long and continuous valleys and ridges that run all throughout it. Today, this region is a trade barrier for most in it. This region is, like the Appalachian Plateau, made up of sedimentary rock, and it was created during the creation of the Appalachian Mountains. Did you know the Ridge and Valley is the Cloth capital of North America?
Blue Ridge Mountains
These mountains create the highest points in Georgia, and some points get more than 80 inches of rain annually. The Blue Ridge Mountains got their name from he light blue haze that you can see if you look at them from far off. Both the Chattahoochee and Savannah river start on this mountain range. Some of the most visited state parks in Georgia reside in this beautiful region.
Piedmont
Piedmont, which literally means 'foothill' or 'foot of the mountain', is a large, hilly landscape, often used for mining and sometimes logging. The Piedmont, while only being one third of the state's land, houses about half of Georgia's people. Also, this land flourishes with life, from farming to the vast woodland that takes up a large amount of land in it.
Coastal Plain
Georgia's Coastal Plain is well known for it's swampland and marshes, especially the Okefenokee Swamp, that lays in Southeast Georgia. Also in the Coastal Plains, the Savannah river river runs through the east-most side. This region also has some of the lowest points in
Georgia. In most higher ground, farmland flourishes in the rich soils.
